On October 9, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that in recent days, the city has experienced continuous heavy rain for many days, causing flooding on many streets.
This situation makes it difficult for people to travel, especially during peak hours when the number of vehicles increases.
Faced with that reality, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police has proactively arranged forces to regulate and divert traffic at deeply flooded and congested areas; guide and support people to move safely. Traffic police are ready to help people through flooded roads, move paralyzed vehicles out of dangerous areas, and coordinate with youth volunteers and security at the grassroots level to conduct rescue operations.
On waterways, the Traffic Police Department also arranges boats and life buoys, inspects and guides vehicle owners on safety measures; organizes 24/7 duty to respond promptly when there are emergency situations.
In addition, the unit coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction to survey and install barriers and warning signs in heavily flooded areas, check drainage systems, sewers and vulnerable points to limit prolonged congestion and heavy flooding.
In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department will continue to update weather forecasts from the Southern Hydrometeorological Station to proactively develop response plans for storms, high tides and areas at risk of flooding and landslides; contributing to protecting people's lives and property.
The Traffic Police Department recommends that people monitor weather forecasts and traffic information to choose a suitable route, avoid deeply flooded areas, and ensure safety for people and vehicles.
When there is a warning of dangerous weather, waterway vehicle operators need to strictly comply with regulations and not travel to avoid unfortunate incidents.
