The National Conference on Digital Government has the theme “Da Nang - Green and Sustainable City: Investment and Trade Development Opportunities in the New Era”. The goal of Da Nang City by 2030 is: “Complete the construction of a smart city synchronously connected with smart urban networks in the country and the ASEAN region”; “Digital economy accounts for about 35-40% of GRDP”.
In particular, in June 2024, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang City.
These include breakthrough mechanisms and policies for developing information technology, digital transformation, and building smart cities, such as attracting strategic investors; controlled testing policies; managing and exploiting information infrastructure assets; attracting experts and scientists, and developing human resources in the fields of semiconductor microchips and artificial intelligence.
Based on that reality, the National Conference on Digital Government 2024 has some notable contents such as: Solutions to improve the efficiency of providing and using online public services; Digital transformation in planning management and smart urban development at the local level; Challenges and opportunities in smart urban planning in megacities; Smart urban management in urbanization and urban development strategies...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee - said that Da Nang City has paid attention to, prioritized, focused on developing and applying information technology since the 2000s; put into use the e-government platform and system since 2014.
Currently, the Da Nang City government has provided more convenient public services to people and businesses; widely applied information technology in public activities and started using digital data in urban direction, operation and management.
"The digital economy is growing rapidly and contributing significantly to the city's GRDP. In 2023, the digital economy will contribute 20.7% of GRDP (exceeding the 2025 target of 20%), with 2.3 digital technology enterprises per 1,000 people (3 times higher than the national average)" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said.
Since 2005, the National Conference on Digital Government has been an annual event, a leading prestigious forum where senior leaders from government agencies and technology experts meet and discuss investment policies, propose initiatives and solutions for comprehensive information technology development to promote the construction of an e-Government system to help the Government improve its capacity to operate and manage the country and local governments.
