On April 6, Ninh Binh Provincial Police said that the Economic Security Department has coordinated with the Border Guard and the Sub-Department of Fisheries - Fisheries Surveillance to strengthen inspection, detection, and coordinate handling of maritime positioning devices on fishing vessels that violate legal regulations.
According to the police agency, there are currently more than 1,800 fishing vessels in Ninh Binh province, with about 5,000 workers participating in seafood exploitation.
As a result, through grasping the situation and area, functional forces discovered that some fishing vessels have not changed, and are still using maritime positioning devices displaying maps of Vietnam's sea areas with images that do not comply with regulations. Functional forces have also conducted inspections and reviews at fishing ports and boat anchorage areas to identify equipment with violations, detect and handle them promptly.
The Economic Security Department also coordinates to propagate and mobilize people to bring equipment to reinstall software, remove content violating maritime imagery; encourage the use of equipment that has been inspected and meets the standards of functional agencies, ensuring information security and sea and island sovereignty.
Functional agencies recommend that agencies, organizations, and individuals raise awareness, strictly comply with legal regulations on territorial sovereignty; do not use equipment of unknown origin or with violating content; when detecting violations, promptly notify functional agencies for handling, thereby contributing to ensuring security and order and protecting national sovereignty at sea.
