On the afternoon of June 10, the People's Committee of A Doi commune (Quang Tri province) said that the mobile bomb and mine clearance team of the Vietnam Peace Tree Organization had just safely handled an artillery shell discovered in the people's fields.
Previously, at about 8:00 am on the same day, people discovered a strange metal object lying exposed in the production land area of Mr. Ho Van Biet's family (residing in Hun village, A Doi commune).
Through observation, this object is cylindrical in shape, about 60cm long, about 15cm in diameter, rusty shell and is identified as suspected to be artillery shells left over from the war that have not exploded. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities and local functional forces.
Upon receiving the report, A Doi Commune Police coordinated with the Commune Military Command and militia forces to be present at the scene. Realizing that the artillery shell was large in size and potentially exploded, causing high unsafety, the forces urgently proceeded to stretch ropes to cordon off the area and put up warning signs of danger.
At the same time, functional forces organized duty, strictly prohibiting people and livestock from approaching this area to ensure absolute safety.
In the afternoon of June 10, the bomb and mine clearance team approached the scene and proceeded to safely handle the artillery shell.
