Recently, Vinh Long General Hospital diagnosed and promptly treated a case of a pregnant woman with pre-eclampsia with severe signs, complications of HELLP syndrome on the background of chronic thrombocytopenia lasting more than 10 years.
Pregnant woman D. T. C. H. (32 years old), pregnant for the second time, was hospitalized when she was 38 weeks pregnant with abdominal pain symptoms. The pregnant woman was diagnosed with high blood pressure from the 28th week of pregnancy but has not been monitored and treated adequately.
Examination results showed that the pregnant woman had blood pressure of 150/100 mmHg, platelet count decreased to about 60 G/L, liver enzymes and LDH increased. Ultrasound also recorded slow fetal growth, estimated weight of about 2.4kg.
Recognizing this as a high-risk case, the team of the Obstetrics Department in coordination with the Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation and Internal Medicine controlled blood pressure, prevented eclampsia, prepared blood products and decided to terminate the pregnancy after about 3 hours of hospitalization.
The surgery went smoothly, the baby boy was born weighing 2.3kg, and his health was stable. After 8 days of treatment, the pregnant woman recovered well, blood pressure and liver and kidney function were stable, and the number of platelets gradually increased before discharge.
