The Vietnamese men's volleyball team closed the first leg of the SEA V.Cup 2026 volleyball tournament in 4th place. The team won 3-0 against Myanmar but successively lost to Thailand in the group stage, Indonesia in the semi-finals and continued to lose to Thailand in the third-place match.
Meanwhile, Cambodia created a big surprise when winning the first leg championship after a victory over Indonesia in the final. Indonesia finished in second place, while Thailand ranked third after overcoming Vietnam.
Moving on to leg 2 in Jakarta (Indonesia), 6 teams continue to compete to accumulate points, thereby determining the overall ranking of SEA V.Cup 2026.
The Vietnamese team still maintains the squad, and at the same time adds setters Tran Hoai Phuong, Bui Xuan Tien to increase options in two important positions.
According to the schedule, coach Federico Rampazzo's team will play against Thailand at 3:30 PM on July 23. One day later, the Vietnamese team will also face Myanmar at 3:30 PM.
After the limitations revealed in the first stage, especially the first step support and the ability to maintain stability against strong opponents, stage 2 is considered an opportunity for the Vietnamese team to improve their playing style, aiming for more positive results in the competition with Thailand, Indonesia and the champion of stage 1 Cambodia.
