Warning in the next 6 hours (from 8:30 a.m. on August 21), the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in the above provinces, especially in the following communes/wards: Binh Lu, Hong Thu, Khun Ha, Le Loi, Nam Cuoi, Nam Ma, Nam Tam, Doan Ket ward, Tan Phong ward, Pu Sam Cap, Ta Leng, Tua Sin Chai in Lai Chau; Muong Ang, Muong Lan, Muong Phang, Na Son, Dien Bien Phu ward, Pu Nhi, Sang Nhe, Sin Chai, Tinh Phinh, Tua Chua, Tua Thang in Dien Bien.
The meteorological agency warns that the risk of natural disasters due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to heavy rain or water flow is level 1.
Flash floods and landslides can have serious impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; civil works and economic infrastructure, causing damage to production activities and social life.
The meteorological agency recommends that localities proactively review flow bottlenecks and vulnerable areas to take timely preventive and response measures to the above risks.
Regarding the hydrological situation, currently, the upstream water level of the Thuong River and Luc Nam River (Bac Ninh) is rising but is still below alert level 1. The water level of the Cau River (Thai Nguyen), downstream of the Thuong River, and Luc Nam River is changing slowly.
Warning from today (August 21) to August 23, on Cau River, Thuong River, and Luc Nam River, there is a possibility of a flood, flood peaks on upstream rivers are likely to rise to alert level 1 - alert level 2; downstream rivers are at alert level 1 and above alert level 1.
There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along the Cau River, Thuong River, Luc Nam River, flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of Bac Ninh, Lang Son and Thai Nguyen provinces.
