The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has just signed a decision to grant a license to Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited, located in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Loi Commune, Ky Anh Town, Ha Tinh Province, to carry out environmental protection activities in phase 1 of the Vung Ang II BOT Thermal Power Plant Project.
The total area of the project is 207.61ha (including: onshore land area 100.18ha; sea area 107.43ha). Phase 1 area of the project (implemented): 164.75ha (of which, onshore land area is about 57.32ha and sea area is about 107.43ha).
The project has environmental criteria equivalent to Group I investment projects according to the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection, Decree No. 08/2022/ND-CP.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requires the unit to regularly and properly operate waste treatment facilities, ensuring that waste after treatment meets environmental technical standards; take measures to minimize noise and vibration to meet environmental protection requirements; manage waste according to the provisions of law. Be responsible before the law when pollutants, noise, and vibration do not meet the requirements permitted in this License and must immediately stop discharging wastewater, exhaust gas, generating noise and vibration to implement remedial measures according to the provisions of law.
According to the EIA report, the project has environmentally sensitive factors, the nearest residential area is about 100m northeast of the project, which is the residential area of Hai Phong village, Ky Loi commune. This residential area is subject to relocation. 2.5km southwest of the project is the residential area of Tay Yen village.
