The meteorological agency predicts that from tonight, January 26, due to the impact of strong cold air, the temperature in the North will continue to drop sharply.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently (January 26), cold air has affected most places in the North and some places in the North Central region; the Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 8, gusting to level 9.

During the day and night of January 26, cold air continues to affect other places in the North and North Central regions, then affects the Central Central region and some places in the South Central region. Northeast wind inland is strong at level 3 - 4, coastal areas at level 4 - 5, with gusts of level 6 - 7 in some places.

The North will have severe cold, mountainous areas will be severely cold, and high mountainous areas will likely have frost and frost. From the night of January 26, the North Central region will have severe cold; from the night of January 26, the Central Central region will turn cold.

The Northern region has the lowest temperature of about 11 - 14 degrees Celsius, mountainous areas 8 - 11 degrees Celsius, high mountainous areas have places below 7 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 13 - 15 degrees Celsius; mountainous areas 12 - 14 degrees Celsius, some places below 12 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area has occasional rain and showers during the day. The weather is very cold with the lowest temperature in this cold air mass commonly being 9 - 12 degrees Celsius.

The North Central region has the lowest temperature of about 12 - 14 degrees Celsius; average temperature of 16 - 18 degrees Celsius. From Quang Binh to Hue, the lowest temperature is about 14 - 17 degrees Celsius; average temperature of 17 - 19 degrees Celsius.

The Northern and North Central regions will have scattered showers and rain. From January 26 to 28, the Central Central region will have showers and rain, with some places having heavy rain and thunderstorms. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

Localized heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

During the day and night of January 27, temperatures in the North and North Central regions continued to decrease. The lowest temperature was around 9 - 12 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 6 - 8 degrees Celsius, and in high mountainous areas below 3 degrees Celsius. The average temperature was around 13 - 15 degrees Celsius; in mountainous areas 11 - 13 degrees Celsius, and in some places below 11 degrees Celsius.

From Quang Binh to Hue, the lowest temperature is about 14 - 17 degrees Celsius; the average temperature is about 16 - 18 degrees Celsius.

From Da Nang to Quang Ngai, the lowest temperature is about 17 - 19 degrees Celsius; the average temperature is about 19 - 21 degrees Celsius.
