On June 23, Ham Kiem Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) said that the locality had just completed procedures to hand over and receive a rare pangolin individual handed over by people.
Previously, Mr. Do Van Sy (resident of Dai Thanh village, Ham Kiem commune) discovered and caught a pangolin weighing about 10kg. Realizing that this was a rare animal, Mr. Sy proactively brought the pangolin to Ham Kiem Commune Police to report and voluntarily handed it over.
After receiving it, Ham Kiem Commune Police coordinated with the Commune People's Committee to complete the procedures. At the same time, handed over the pangolin to Ham Thuan Nam Forest Protection Department. The pangolin was healthy, so functional forces released it back to its natural environment according to regulations.
Pangolins are rare and precious wild animals. This animal belongs to Group IB - a group of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals prioritized for protection according to the provisions of law.
The act of voluntarily reporting and handing over wildlife by people shows a sense of law compliance. At the same time, it contributes to raising community awareness in biodiversity conservation and protection of rare and precious wildlife species in the area.
