The National Steering Committee for Civil Defense has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities in the Northern, North Central and coastal regions from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai, requesting localities to proactively respond to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, flash floods, landslides and strong winds at sea.
The official dispatch sent to 22 provinces and cities clearly stated: According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of cold air, from the afternoon of May 7 to May 8, the Northern and North Central regions will have moderate rain, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 100mm; in thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail; heavy rain is likely to cause flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas; the northeast sea area of the Northern East Sea has strong Northeast wind at level 6, gusts at level 7-8.
To proactively respond to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, flooding, flash floods, landslides and strong winds at sea, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense proposes that the People's Committees of provinces and cities:
For heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, flooding, flash floods, landslides (provinces and cities in the Northern and North Central regions): Closely monitor warning bulletins and forecasts on weather developments, cold air, heavy rain, tornadoes, hail, hail, risk of flash floods and landslides; promptly inform local authorities and people to proactively take appropriate preventive measures; be ready with local forces to promptly support people to overcome consequences (if any).
For strong winds at sea (coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai): Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and ships operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety for people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
Be on duty seriously, regularly report to the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense (through the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment).
