According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (May 26), the Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions will have local heavy rain. Rainfall from 7am to 2pm on May 26 was over 30mm in some places such as: Ky Hoa (Ha Tinh) 49.2mm, Duy Son (Quang Nam) 39.6mm, Nghia Tho (Quang Ngai) 71.2mm...
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh - Deputy Head of Weather Forecast Department, Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the evening and evening of May 26, the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. Rainfall is generally from 10 - 30mm, in some places over 50mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
"From the evening of May 28 to May 29, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa are likely to experience a period of moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with total rainfall of 30 - 80mm, some places over 180mm" - Mr. Thanh said.
Previously, from the night of May 22 to now, the Northern and North Central regions have faced a widespread heavy rain.

According to Mr. Mai Van Khiem - Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in recent days, the Northern region, especially the mountainous provinces, has continuously experienced thunderstorms. Many places have saturated, causing the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides to increase.
Localities such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Lai Chau, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son... need to pay special attention. These are areas prone to landslides and flash floods, especially in steep terrain areas where people live near mountain slopes or along streams.
According to the representative of the meteorological agency, in the upcoming rain, there may also be local rain with high intensity (over 100mm in 3 hours), which will increase the risk of flash floods and landslides.
In addition, this rain is also likely to have thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during the rain.
The Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also paid special attention to the possibility of flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial parks in the Northern and North Central regions during the rains during this period.
"Currently, the Northern, Central Highlands and Southern regions have entered the rainy season. Therefore, the frequency of rains will be higher" - Mr. Mai Van Khiem commented.
Mr. Khiem also recommended that people continue to closely monitor weather forecasts and warnings from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting to promptly respond.
Real-time warning information for areas at risk of flash floods and landslides is provided online on the website of the Department of Hydrometeorology at: https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in a separate bulletin warning of flash floods and landslides.
