On June 30, leaders of Tuy Phong Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong province) said that the locality has developed a plan to organize people to participate in monitoring ponds and reservoirs of Viet Farm Company on Tan Lai mountain.
This is the area where a reservoir breach occurred at the end of 2025, causing serious damage to people and property.
According to Tuy Phong Commune People's Committee, the organization of supervision is to resolve the recommendations of affected households, and at the same time objectively assess the safety status of the remaining lakes and ponds. The results will be the basis for building a plan to prevent and combat natural disasters and overcome long-term consequences.
According to the plan, monitoring activities are carried out in two forms: direct and flycam monitoring.

For the direct form, representatives of people, functional agencies and businesses will be taken by the locality to Tan Lai mountain to check the current status of water reservoirs. In parallel, images recorded by flycam will be projected for all parties to monitor and comprehensively assess the area.
Participants include representatives of the Investigation Police Agency of Lam Dong Provincial Police, Tuy Phong Commune People's Committee, relevant units, representatives of affected households and businesses. After the supervision process, the parties will make a working record according to regulations.
allowing people to directly participate in monitoring, combined with flycam applications, is expected to ensure publicity and transparency in assessing the current status of water reservoirs. Thereby, building more effective disaster risk prevention solutions in the coming time.
As Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the evening of November 1, 2025, the water reservoir on Tan Lai mountain, belonging to the project of Viet Phong Phu Farm Company, broke, causing a large amount of water to pour down on residential areas and production land below.
The incident killed a 13-year-old girl and injured another. The water also swept away more than 125 hectares of production land, crops, and livestock of 374 households.
Functional agencies determined that Viet Phong Phu Farm Company arbitrarily dug 6 water tanks on Tan Lai mountain. These items are not included in the investment policy, environmental impact assessment report as well as the issued construction permit.
The Investigation Police Agency of Lam Dong Provincial Police has initiated a case to investigate the act of "Violating construction regulations causing serious consequences". Meanwhile, many households are still waiting for compensation for damages to soon restore production and stabilize their lives.
