After knowing the score, experts recommend that candidates should not only base on the benchmark score of the previous year to register their aspirations. In addition to the benchmark score of the last 2-3 years, candidates need to consider the admission combination, admission method, tuition fees, geographical location, training quality as well as job opportunities after graduation to build a suitable registration strategy.

The 2026 high school graduation exam takes place on June 11 and 12 with 1,223,776 registered candidates, an increase of more than 61,600 compared to 2025.
This is the second year the exam has been organized according to the 2018 General Education Program and for the first time the Ministry of Education and Training has applied the Rubric tool in marking Literature to increase unity among examiners and reduce subjective factors in evaluating papers.
According to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, the grading must ensure objectivity, fairness, and compliance with regulations. Multiple-choice exam papers are graded entirely by machine with unified software nationwide, while Literature is graded in two independent rounds.
Leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training also repeatedly emphasized that, with the specific nature of the Literature exam being built in an open direction, the answer key is also designed in an open direction. Examiners must respect the views, arguments and creative expressions of candidates if they are suitable for the requirements of the exam, and at the same time ensure correct assessment of learners' abilities.
