Teaser images show that the iX1 has a powerful headlight pair with angular LED lines, large grids and blue streaks on the edge of the air vents similar to the upgraded iX3. The new internal combustion engine X1 will have a design similar to the iX1, except for some details that only appear on the EV version.
The German automaker described the iX1 model as " spacious but still compact", implicitly confirming that the new generation iX1 and X1 will have a wider interior space than the current generation X1.
Speaking at the BMW Zipse Annual Conference, Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BMW AG, said that the iX1 will be launched at the end of 2022.
According to Mr. Zipse, the X1 and iX1 inherit many new technologies similar to the XM concept car. Some images of the iX1/X1 model being tested earlier show that the iX1/X1 will have an electronic curved-screen speed monitor and the 8th generation iDrive operating system.
BMW has not announced details about the powertrain of the iX1 but has confirmed that the model will use the 5th generation eDrive technology. Some reports predict that the operating range of the iX1 is around 412-438km for each full charge according to WLTP standards.
Compared to the X3 and X1 brothers, the BMW is more favored for the number of transmission system versions. While the new generation X3 has only two variants: gasoline and 100% electric, the X1 will be distributed under 4 variants including gasoline, oil, hybrid and 100% electric. In addition, many rumors suggest that BMW is also developing a high-performance variation for the X1 called the M35i.
