Limit sodium
Patients with kidney failure need to reduce sodium intake because sodium directly affects water balance and muscle activity. When the kidneys are not functional, the body cannot excrete excess sodium, leading to high blood pressure, edema, cervical edema, edema and increasing the burden on the heart, which can gradually cause heart failure.
Limit your water intake
If the amount of urine is reduced, the water entering the body will easily stagnate, causing edema, high blood pressure and the risk of lung edema. In this case, the total amount of water drunk per day should be almost equal to the amount of wastewater added by about 500 ml.
Reduce protein intake
Protein increases the filter load for the kidneys. Therefore, people with kidney failure need to strictly control their protein intake. A carefully calculated diet will help protect the remaining kidney function and slow down the progression of the disease.
Limit potassium
When the kidneys are weak, the body has difficulty excreting potassium, leading to the risk of arrhythmia. Patients should avoid foods rich in potassium such as meat, dark green vegetables, tomatoes, carrots, oranges, tangerines, persimmons, soursop and limit raw vegetables. Potassium is also abundant in coffee, black tea, chicken/ctive/orsel starch, thick meat broth and low-salt soy sauces or salt replacements.
