Although often overlooked, eyelash extensive dandruff is a concern and can be completely controlled if treated properly, Dr. Gupta emphasized.
Why is hairy dandruff dangerous?
At first glance, eyelashes may seem unsightly, but they can actually cause a series of eye problems, according to the Indian Express.
Oily gland patches, dry eyes: dandruff can constrict the oil glands on the eyelids, causing the eyes to not secrete enough water and result in dry burning, itchy eyes.
Causes infections: An environment with prolonged irritation of the eyelids will promote the growth of bacteria, leading to conjunctivitis or eye drops.
Cornea damage: In severe cases, inflammation can spread to the cornea, causing blurred vision and permanent damage if left untreated.

Some common symptoms that help you identify dandruff include:
- White or yellow scales appear around the eyelash roots.
- Red, itchy eyes, especially in the morning.

Dr. Gupta recommends some simple but effective measures to control eyelash extensions:
Eyelid hygiene: Use a clean towel or cotton to absorb a mild solution (such as a diluted children's shampoo) to rinse your eyes every day.
Warm compress: Helps soften the scales and clear blocked oil glands.
Take the following medicine: Antibiotic ointment or anti-inflammatory eye drops can be prescribed if the disease is severe.
treat Demodex sclerosis: If the cause is parasites, products containing tea tree oil will help control.
Limit makeup: Avoid using eye cosmetics during treatment to reduce irritation.
Finally, Dr. Gupta emphasizes: Maintaining eyelid hygiene, regular monitoring and early intervention are the keys to preventing eyelid dandruff from recurring and protecting long-term eye health.
