As hundreds of Donald Trump supporters wear red MAGA hats and carry banners to a fair outside the small town of Butler, Pennsylvania, there are few signs that they are about to witness an important moment in the US presidential campaign and in the history of the US.
What began as a moderate election campaign on a sunny Saturday afternoon ended in chaos and confusion when a series of shots were fired at former President Donald Trump, killing him in the ears.
ABC News summarizes the entire assassination attempt, encapsulated in 11 minutes and 9 seconds.
The campaign was held at Butler Fair Area, about 55 km north of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia. Special stands and a stage were set up at the event venue.
6:02 p.m. EDT (Eastern United States)
Donald Trump was asked to appear on stage at 5pm local time but did not appear until around 6:00pm.
The stage faces northwest with the audience standing behind and the three buildings can be seen in satellite photos right behind. On the left of Trump is another row of large buildings and a parking lot.
6:05 p.m.
After greeting the audience, Mr. Trump officially stepped onto the stage. His first words to the microphone were "there is a big crowd, a big, beautiful crowd."
6:11 p.m.
At around 6:11 p.m., a campaign organizer near the suspect's location fired a gun and shouted "He has a gun!" scaring everyone around them.
Video posted by TMZ shows a long-haired man lying on a stretcher of land in a building near a parking lot, north of the stage.
Live data from the Right Side broadcasting network - certified with live data from AP and Reuters - shows that the first firing was heard at 6:11 p.m. 33 times Eastern time.
Three shots from the same weapon could be heard in less than three seconds.
Between the first and second shots, former president Donald hugged his ears and grimaced his face, suggesting the first bullet had hit the target.
A second shot rang out and Trump began bowing behind the podium. The crowd behind began to realize what was happening.
The third shot rang out, and three members of the security team almost immediately approached Mr Trump, using their bodies to shield the former president.
Four seconds later, four more shots rang out, followed by three shots that quickly sounded like another gun. 11 seconds later, there was another shot.
The video of the witness later showed the suspect's body firing a gun at a building next to the northern parking lot, about 130 meters from the stage where Mr Trump spoke.
The FBI later issued a statement identifying Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, as the " overall suspect" in the assassination.
It is not yet clear exactly how he got to the roof, but street map data and satellite images of the location show that there are many points where he can go, including from neighboring buildings and parking lots.
6:12 p.m.
As many Secret Service employees and armed escorts rushed towards Mr. Trump, the microphone received the sound of the security team trying to coordinate to get the former President out.
The clip, taken by Jabin Botsford, from the Washington Post, shows security guards trying to hold the former president back.
The screams "We love you, Trump!" heard from the crowd.
6:13 p.m.
Security teams are ready to move after the road from the stage to the SUV is cleared. At that time, I still heard Mr. Trump say to the Secret Service members in the video: let me get back my shoes.
Meanwhile, about 50 meters north of the stage, a person shot in a cross-walk lane is being helped by people around him.
A spokesperson for the Secret Service, Anthony Gugliemi, later informed that in addition to the gunman, one viewer was killed and two others were seriously injured.
On stage, Mr. Trump raised his fist to the sky and the crowd cheered and shouted "USA" when he was escorted down the stairs and left the stage. It took Mr Trump 22 seconds to get to the car.
The former president raised his final fist in front of a crowd before the car started moving at 6:13 p.m. and 41 seconds.
It all took 11 minutes and 9 seconds.
