On December 30th, at the Viet Tiep Labor Culture Palace, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization of Hai Phong City organized the Voluntary Blood Donation Day of the sectors, departments, branches, and mass organizations in 2025.
At the Festival, more than 2,000 officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers of departments, agencies, branches, unions, and businesses of the city registered to participate in voluntary blood donation. Among them, the Education and Training sector (734 people), the Banking sector (500 people), the Agriculture and Environment sector (180 people)... In 2025, the voluntary machine donation movement of Hai Phong city collected 61,159 units of blood, equivalent to 101.6% of the target assigned by the National Steering Committee.
However, the amount of blood collected annually only reaches about 1.5% of the population, still low compared to the World Health Organization's recommendations (minimum 2% of the population). The demand for blood for emergency and treatment is increasing.
On behalf of the City Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Department of Health Tran Quoc Trinh acknowledged and praised the very encouraging results that the city's voluntary blood donation movement has achieved in the past time.
Mr. Tran Quoc Trinh proposed that in the coming time, levels, sectors, localities, and units proactively develop long-term plans for voluntary blood donation; strengthen propaganda, mobilization, and organization of voluntary blood donation; pay attention to improving the quality, safety of blood transfusion and sustainability of the movement; promptly commend and honor typical individuals, effective models, creating a spread in the community...
