Many people maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly but are still always in a state of lack of energy, sluggishness and difficulty concentrating. Prolonged fatigue is not only related to eating or exercise but can also originate from many different causes inside the body.
Dr. Pooja Pillai, an internist at Aster CMI Hospital (India), said that fatigue is a condition that causes physical and mental energy decline. In some cases, rest can help improve. However, if fatigue persists even after getting enough sleep and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, patients need to pay more attention to other health factors.
One of the most common causes is poor sleep quality. Many people sleep enough hours but the sleep is not deep, often wake up or sleep at the wrong time, causing the body not to recover completely.
Prolonged stress can also keep the body in a state of fatigue. Work pressure, anxiety, or mental stress can affect hormones and the quality of rest, thereby reducing energy during the day.
In addition, dehydration is a common overlooked cause. When the body is dehydrated, the circulation and metabolism of energy can be affected, causing patients to feel sluggish, headache, or reduced concentration.
Some cases of prolonged fatigue are also related to nutritional deficiencies, especially iron, vitamin D or vitamin B12 deficiencies. These are all important nutrients that help the body create energy and maintain the normal functioning of the nervous system and muscles.
Endocrine disorders, especially thyroid problems, can also cause prolonged exhaustion. In addition, diseases such as anemia, diabetes, sleep apnea, infections or cardiovascular disease can also cause the body to lose energy even if the patient still maintains a scientific lifestyle.
Dr. Pillai also noted that overtraining without spending enough recovery time can make the body more tired.
To limit fatigue, people should maintain regular sleep hours, drink enough water, eat balancedly and control stress. Limiting the use of electronic devices before bed, avoiding consuming too much caffeine and spending time resting after exercise is also very necessary.
Regular health check-ups can help detect early substance deficiencies or potential health problems. If fatigue lasts for weeks or is accompanied by signs such as shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain, abnormal weight loss or insomnia, patients should see a doctor early to determine the cause.
