On November 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that as of 10:00 a.m. the same day, 8 hospitals had reported a total of 171 suspected food poisoning cases coming for examination and treatment after eating bread from the No. Bich toad bread shop on Nguyen Thai Son Street (Hanh Thong Ward) and Le Quang Dinh Street (Binh Loi Trung Ward) which is the branch 2 of this shop.
Of which, 65 cases are being treated as inpatients. Currently, most cases are temporarily stable, some severe cases are being actively treated.
Of which, Military Hospital 175 has 100 cases (13 inpatient cases, 87 outpatient cases). Tam Anh General Hospital has 20 cases (13 cases are in the hospital, 1 case is being treated at ICU). Gia Dinh People's Hospital has 36 cases, including 24 inpatient cases, 1 blood culture positive for Salmonella.
Binh Dan Hospital has 1 case, discharged. My Duc Tan Binh Hospital has 1 case of a 28-year-old pregnant woman, 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant, receiving inpatient treatment.
Becamex International Hospital has 6 cases being treated as inpatients. Trung My Tay General Hospital has 5 cases being treated as inpatients. Children's Hospital 2 has 2 cases undergoing inpatient treatment.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has reported to the City People's Committee, the Ministry of Health and directed hospitals to ensure admission, classification and handling in accordance with the food poisoning treatment regimen issued by the Department of Health.
At the same time, implement a quick reporting regime to the Department of Health (Department of Medicine) including admission status, severe cases, microbiological results and complications (if any), to promptly coordinate and agree on treatment regimens.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health believes that initially, clinical and paraclinical data of most patients were suitable for intestinal cultural agents, most likely Salmonella.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said it had coordinated with the People's Committee of Hanh Thong Ward to establish an inspection team to verify the incident. At the time of inspection, the bread selling facility on Nguyen Thai Son Street had temporarily suspended operations. The team sealed the food, ingredients and took samples for testing according to regulations. The Department of Food Safety has also reported the incident to the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health).
