On the evening of November 8, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City said that the unit had coordinated with the People's Committee of Hanh Thong Ward to establish an investigation team to handle the suspected food poisoning case after eating bread purchased at a bakery on Nguyen Thai Son Street.
The team conducted a surprise inspection at the facility on November 7. At the time of inspection, this facility was temporarily suspended from operation, the inspection team sealed the food and food ingredients for testing in accordance with legal regulations.
The team also investigated and collected information from patients related to the incident who are being treated at Military Hospital 175, Gia Dinh People's Hospital. At the same time, continue to expand the investigation of patients related to eating the above bread at other examination and treatment facilities (if any) to collect investigation information, determine the cause and handle it in accordance with regulations.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that as of the morning of November 8, it had recorded reports from 4 hospitals with more than 80 cases, of which 47 cases had been discharged from the hospital.
At Gia Dinh People's Hospital alone, on November 5, out of 19 hospitalizations, 1 case was recorded with symptoms of severe abdominal pain and repeated vomiting and diarrhea, with blood culture results positive for Salmonella bacteria.
Initially, clinical and paraclinical data of most patients with food poisoning after eating bread were consistent with the biological agents of gut bacteria, most likely Salmonella.
