On July 2nd, Doctor CK1 Nguyen Quang Hoa - Department of Nephrology - Urology, Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital Dong Hoi (Quang Tri) said that he had just performed surgery to remove coral kidney stones from a female patient.
Patient N.T. D (born 1987, Ba Don ward, Quang Tri province) was hospitalized due to right hip pain. Previously, the patient had detected kidney stones but was subjective and did not treat them.
CT scan results showed that the patient had total coral stones, size 70x50mm, shaped like a ginger root, posing a risk of complications if not intervened in time. Due to the characteristics of large and complex stones, doctors chose open surgery combined with soft laparoscopic surgery in surgery to remove all stones, increase the rate of clean stones and limit complications.
According to Dr. Hoa, open surgery alone cannot completely solve coral stones. The combination of soft endoscopy helps to carefully examine the inside. After surgery, post-operative patients are stable and stones are almost completely clean.
Doctor Hoa also recommends that people maintain a healthy lifestyle, drink enough water 2.5-3 liters/day, reduce salt by less than 5g, limit animal protein, increase vegetables and fruits, maintain a reasonable weight and limit urinating.
Currently, endoscopic petechiae are developing rapidly, but for large, complex stones, open surgery still plays an important role. Combining endoscopy in surgery is a method chosen to increase the rate of clean stones, ensuring safety for patients.
