The strengthening of communication is implemented based on the conclusions of the Ministry of Health at the National Online Conference on polio prevention and control at the end of 2025.
According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam is currently facing a high risk of polio virus intrusion, while monitoring and vaccination work in some localities has not been fully implemented.
The Department of Culture and Sports requests localities and media units to focus on disseminating practical and easy-to-implement disease prevention measures such as maintaining personal hygiene, eating cooked food and drinking cooked water, using clean water, and treating waste in accordance with regulations. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen mobilization of parents to take children for full polio vaccination and recommend people to immediately go to medical facilities when suspicious signs appear, especially acute mild paralysis in children.
At the same time, epidemiological surveillance work is required to be carried out regularly and continuously, in order to detect suspicious cases early to handle them promptly, limiting the risk of spreading in the community. The health sector is also assigned the task of reviewing children's vaccination history, organizing booster and booster injections, ensuring that subjects are not missed.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Deputy Minister of Health, the rate of polio vaccination in many localities has not yet met the requirements, including the difference between reported data and reality. This is considered a factor increasing the risk of epidemic intrusion if drastic prevention and control measures are not implemented in the coming time.
To effectively inform people, Ho Chi Minh City encourages the deployment of multi-channel communication, from newspapers, television, social networks to grassroots radio systems and visual propaganda forms, contributing to raising awareness and protecting community health.
