With a total investment of more than 145,600 billion VND, the highlight of the project is a stadium with a scale of up to 70,000 seats, with a roof and modern air conditioning system.
This is also the project with the largest total investment in 4 key infrastructure - transportation projects that were started and grounded on January 15, 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party, including: Rach Chiec National Sports Complex; Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong); Can Gio Bridge and Phu My 2 Bridge.
Ho Chi Minh City has selected Vung Tau Sun Co., Ltd. - a member of Sun Group - as the investor to implement the project. According to Decision No. 269/QD-UBND dated January 13, 2026 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on approving the results of investor selection, the project has a implementation period of about 8 years from the date of signing the BT contract.
However, with the nature of a dynamic infrastructure project and the expectation of creating a new impetus for development for the city, Ho Chi Minh City and the investor are determined to accelerate the progress of site clearance, organize synchronous construction, and strive to shorten the completion time of the entire complex to about 5 years.

According to the plan, Rach Chiec National Sports Complex has a total area of more than 186.78 ha. In which, the central stadium is a key item, with a scale of 24 ha, total investment of 35,000 billion VND, capacity of 70,000 seats.
This modern design and equipment system allows the stadium not only to organize international-scale sports events, but also to automatically transform into a multi-functional stage, serving large-scale music festivals, regional and world-class entertainment programs.
Rach Chiec National Sports Complex is also planned as a multi-functional sports complex, capable of meeting the needs of organizing competitions, training and performances for about 90% of Olympic sports.
Besides the central stadium, the complex also includes gymnasiums and indoor sports centers equipped with modern air conditioning systems, flexibly adjusting temperatures according to the stand area.
In which, the multi-purpose sports and performance hall has a scale of 10 hectares, with a capacity of about 18,000 seats, serving indoor sports, art performances, entertainment programs and general events. The multi-purpose sports center with a scale of 5,000 - 10,000 seats meets the needs of competition in many sports, training and amateur sports events.
The water sports center meets international standards for swimming, diving, and water polo. The tennis sports center serves competition, training, and organizing professional tournaments. The training and coaching center specializes in training, competition preparation, and supporting courts.

In addition, the community sports complex and the area serving athletes, coaches and sports medicine help expand Rach Chiec's role, from a professional competition center to a sports - entertainment space associated with urban life, and at the same time form a closed training - competition - rehabilitation ecosystem.
In parallel with sports facilities, the project also allocates a large land fund for public space and urban services.
Along with other large-scale sports projects being invested nationwide, the Rach Chiec National Sports Complex complex will contribute to completing Vietnam's sports infrastructure, creating a capacity foundation for the future, the country can host major events such as the World Cup or the Olympics.
