According to NHK, this room is considered the most honored place in the Royal Palace. Seiden-Matsu-no-Ma is about 370 square meters wide, with an 8m ceiling and is the only room in the Imperial Palace with a wooden floor. Floors are made from zelkova wood - a type of tree famous for its beautiful durable wooden trunks.
The Seiden-Matsu-no-Ma room is used for important events such as the Emperor's appointment of the Prime Minister and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court... or when newly appointed foreign ambassadors submit civil servants to the Emperor.
There are two rooms next to Seiden-Matsu-no-Ma. One is Seiden-Take-no-Ma and the other room is Seiden-Ume-no-Ma. The Japanese characters used in the names of the three rooms form a word that means "thong, dong va plam". Trees that symbolize happiness or luck in Japan.
The debauchery ceremony - " Taiirei-Seiden-no-gi" - will be held at the Seiden-Matsu-no-Ma room at 5:00 p.m. on April 30.
Emperor Akihito will enter the room and have the city monks carrying swords and pearls - the treasures in the "Three Principles" - the treasures that symbolize the emperor's power. The state seal and the emperor's own seal will also be carried.
After that, the monks will place the treasures and seals on the shelves.
Other members of the Royal Family, including Queen Michiko, Prince Naruhito and consort Masako, and the couple Prince Akishino, will also attend the ceremony.
Next, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will speak on behalf of the Japanese people. Finally, Emperor Akihito will give a final speech in his role as Emperor.
The ceremony is expected to last about 10 minutes with the participation of 300 people, including the Prime Minister, the head of the Senate and the House of Representatives, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and leaders of local governments.
