    During his visit to New Jerusalem monastery, US Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman learned more about the spiritual traditions of the Russian people and participated in the celebration of immersing themselves in the cold water during the Lunar New Year of Russian Communists.

    According to Sputnik, a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Russia previously confirmed the visit and the excitement of Ambassador Jon Huntsman when he tried to immerse himself in the cold lake water.

    "This weekend, Ambassador Jon Huntsman will visit the New Jerusalem monastery, west of Moscow, along with the Russian Communist Church. The Ambassador's family, Vice Ambassador Anthony Godfrey and the Embassy staff will also accompany him in this activity," said Maria Olson.

    "Mr. Huntsman was happy to participate in the bathing ceremony at the Opening Ceremony because he had heard a lot about memorable experiences from his Russian friends," the spokesperson added.

    After trying to immerse himself in the frozen lake, Ambassador Jon Huntsman shared that this was a "new and unforgettable experience for him".

    A few days earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin also performed a ceremony to immerse himself in the cold water of Seliger Lake to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
