Their destinations are not only dreamy lands but also "exclusive" places reserved only for the super rich.
Tropical paradises for billionaires
Superyachts have been quietly heading to warmer waters this holiday season, Business Insider reports. Jeff Bezos’ Koru, Barry Diller’s Eos and Eric Schmidt’s Whisper are all anchored in the Caribbean, while billionaire Len Blavatnik’s Odessa II recently docked in Antigua.
Many cruise ships will continue their journey to St. Barths, the island known as “the paradise of luxury”. With its beautiful beaches, lavish hotels and classy restaurants, St. Barths has long been a favorite resort for wealthy families such as the Rockefellers and Rothschilds.
Last year, Jeff Bezos, his fiancee Lauren Sanchez, and basketball legend Michael Jordan were all spotted vacationing there. Those not on a yacht often opt for luxury hotels like Eden Rock or Cheval Blanc, where holiday rates can run more than $5,000 a night.
Ultimate experiences at winter resorts
Not all billionaires seek sunny destinations. Many choose colder destinations like the Alps in Europe or Aspen in the US.
In Europe, famous resorts such as Gstaad, St. Moritz, Courchevel and Val-d'Isere attract the wealthiest people. Some billionaires own luxury chalets (traditional wooden houses) worth tens of millions of dollars, which rent for up to $40,000 a week in high season.
Quieter areas like Crans-Montana (Switzerland) or Kitzbühel (Austria) are also popular, especially for those who want to avoid the prying eyes of the public.
In the US, Aspen is considered the capital of the super-rich. This is the place where residents with assets of 30 million USD or more gather with the highest density in the US. Celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Rihanna often appear here during the holidays.
The town is known not only for its mountains and world-class skiing, but also for its restaurants, luxury stores like Prada and Gucci, and resorts like the St. Regis.
While most billionaires choose lavish destinations, they also occasionally spend their vacations in a more modest way. One Knightsbridge Circle client organized a family trip to Disney World. However, despite the high-end amenities and services, this “low-key” vacation still cost around $75,000 for a few days.
