The Lakhta II Center will be 703m high, while the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, will be 828m high, CNN quoted a press release from architects at Kettle Collective.
However, the future Russian skyscraper will have a usable floor and the world's tallest exhibition room at 590m.
For comparison, the second tallest building is currently the Shanghai Tower, 632m high. The shard building in London is 310m high.
The Lakhta II Center will be located on the outskirts of St.Petersburg, next to the original Lakhta Center - currently the tallest building in Europe with a height of 462m and the headquarters of Russian energy giant Gazprom.
Tony Kettle is the project's head designer and also designed the Lakhta Center during his time working at RMJM architecture firm.
"The new Lakhta center will be a sustainable design model for global high-rise projects," Kettle said in a press release. "It will have the best low-energy design and combined with use will create a vertical transition space, with a vibrant center in the heart of this new commercial area".
Lakhta II Center will have an office space, a residential area and a relaxation space of over 150 floors.
Kettle added: The design is both aesthetic and highly functional as it will significantly reduce the wind force affecting the structure, thereby reducing the size of the necessary structural components in the building.
Kettle CEO - Colin Bone - said: "This is an extremely important partnership for our studio, at a time of great challenge globally, not only for Kettle Collective but also for our industry due to the impact of the pandemic".
The old Lakhta center is the first "super-high" building in St. Petersburg. Petersburg (300m higher or higher). This is currently a skyscraper in the northernmost part of the world, according to builders.
Kettle Collective announced the design of Lakhta II Center on May 25. Accordingly, the Lakhta II Center rotates 90 degrees from the foundation to the top, like a winding needle, making it one of the tallest buildings in the world with a "tving" skyscraper design.
Kettle Collective was founded in 2012 and has studios in Scotland, Dubai and Oman. The award-winning design company has implemented many projects in the Middle East, including the Dewa solar Innovation Center in Dubai, Sultan Qaboos Port in Oman and many museums in Saudi Arabia.
