RT reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has just released detailed information and videos about attacks targeting a series of naval assets of the Syrian army in the context of Damascus falling into the hands of the opposition group and the collapse of the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
On the evening of December 10 (local time), the IDF announced that Israeli warships had fired missiles at the ports of Latakia and Al-Bayda within 48 hours. There were 15 Syrian naval ships anchored at the ports during the attacks.
We destroyed dozens of anti-ship missiles with ranges from 80 to 190 km, the IDF wrote on social network X, posting a video recording the attack on the unidentified vessels.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had allowed the IDF to bomb the remaining strategic weapons systems of the Syrian army so that they would not fall into the hands of the jihadists. The Israeli military has previously advanced from the Golan Heights deeper into Syrian territory, expanding the territory it has occupied since 1967,
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF intends to establish an absolute safe zone in southern Syria to prevent the opposition from taking advantage of the chaos and threatening the jewish state.
Arab states and Turkey have condemned Israels actions. Saudi Arabia believes the IDF's actions are increasing instability in this war-torn country.
