On RT's page, a seemingly clip of a passenger on a flight carrying members of the Saudi Arabian football team back shows a flame exploding from an engine before landing.
According to RT, the Airbus A319-100 of Russian Airlines had a technical defect in the engine and caught fire.
On social network Twitter, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation immediately issued an English statement stating: The plane landed in Rostov-on-Don. All players and members of the Saudi Arabia team are safe and the whole group has returned to the hotel safely.
After the plane that had been in use for 12 years landed safely, the Saudi players left the plane themselves, Telegrgaph said.
Saudi Arabia will face Uruguay on June 20.
Previously, in the opening match of the World Cup, the Saudi Arabia team suffered a disastrous 0-5 defeat to the Russian team. However, Saudi Arabia coach Juan Antonio pizzi still told Goal: "We have to change tactics. I have faith in our players."
