3 schools are proposed to increase their quotas, including Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Thi Dinh High School for the Gifted in Sports and Physical Training and the newly established high school in Binh Tan District.
Mr. Ho Tan Minh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that adjusting this enrollment target is part of Ho Chi Minh City's overall plan to increase the rate of students entering public grade 10 by over 80%.
Currently, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted is recruiting 455 grade 10 students. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Dinh High School for the Gifted in Physical Education and Sports recruited 450.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the quota for grade 10 this year is calculated by the Department to suit each area, in order to reduce pressure on students.
Accordingly, schools in suburban and suburban areas with a small number that need to control classes according to new rural standards will be assigned targets according to needs. As for schools in densely populated areas, the quota is assigned higher.
At noon on April 11, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year in public high schools with a total of more than 70,000 targets, reaching 79% of the number of students expected to graduate from grade 9, nearly 90,000 students.
This year's 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6-7. Candidates will take 3 exams: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject), Foreign Language (foreign language 1 is being studied at school, the test time is 90 minutes). Candidates who register for admission to a specialized school or an integrated class will take an additional exam in a corresponding specialized or integrated subject (150 minutes).
This year, depending on the actual application submission situation at high schools and the needs of high schools, the Department of Education and Training will decide to enroll additional students for schools that lack many targets.
