displayed between the advertisements, the super-real cat becomes lively on a 155m2 curved LED screen in Shinjuku district. The 4K resolution display shows the cat leaning and making a clear growling sound.
The video changed continuously during the broadcast time from 7:00 a.m. the previous day to 1:00 a.m. the following day. The first tripod cat awoke up in the morning, and in the afternoon, it could be seen standing up and complaining to passersby. In the evening, it lies down and falls asleep, knees on its feet.
Although 3D billboards will not officially launch until July 12, pilot broadcasts have been taking place since last month. And the "Shinjuku cat's Den" has caused a "cyber storm", with countless users calling it "easy to treat" and expressing surprise at the technology.
A Twitter user posted a video recording the cat crawling and sleeping, writing that it "looked sleepy at night".
For those who cannot visit in person, one of the advertising companies, Cross Space, has started broadcasting the advertising sign selection live via YouTube. But in a press release, the owner of the display warned that the 3D effect could be reduced depending on the viewing angle.
The billboard is located on the east exit of Shinjuku Station - the world's busiest shopping and business center in Tokyo. According to the Cross Shinjuku Vision website, 190,000 people pass through the screen every day of the week.
In addition to Japan, 3D billboards have appeared in some Asian countries in recent years. Last May, a huge 3D wave, designed by technology company d'strict, took over Korea's largest digital billboard in Gangnam neighborhood, Seoul.
