US opens Embassy becomes the bloodiest day in Gaza

    The Gaza Ministry of Health said that 58 Palestinians were killed and 2,700 injured in the clash on the Gaza-Israel border on the day the US Embassy opened in Israel.

    According to the Times of Israel, this was the bloodiest day in the Gaza Strip since 2014.

    The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said about 40,000 Gazans demonstrated at 12 locations along the border during the peak period. Thousands of others gathered at locations hundreds of meters away from the fence.

    At around 4 p.m. on May 14, when the US Embassy opened in Jerusalem, demonstrators were trying to break down border fences at several locations along the Gaza Strip.

    In addition, the Israeli military conducted 12 airstrikes inside the Gaza Strip throughout the day, in response to attacks by Palestinian protests on the country's army.

    On the afternoon of May 14, the Israeli army announced an attack on five targets in a Hamas military training facility in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
