The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that US forces have now "completed self-defense attacks against Iran".
In an update shared on social media, CENTCOM confirmed that the attacks on the morning of June 10 were in response to "shooting down an Apache helicopter of the US Army".
CENTCOM also described the attacks on Iran as "a response commensurate with recent attacks targeting US forces and international merchant ships passing through the area.
CENTCOM forces attacked Iranian air defense stations, ground control stations and surveillance radar locations near the Strait of Hormuz with precision ammunition from US Air Force and Navy fighter jets," CENTCOM stated.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that it attacked the US 5th Fleet in Bahrain with drones in response to US attacks on southern Iran.
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps noted that fighting continues and stronger retaliatory measures will be taken if US military "agression" continues.
The IRGC also confirmed that the US launched attacks on several locations in Jask, Sirik and Qeshm Island in southern Iran, damaging a telecommunications tower and destroying 2 water tanks in Bemani district of Sirik.
