In the town of Negrar, north of the city of Verona, this incredible discovery took place nearly a century after the remains of an ancient villa were found in this area.
According to CNN, the floor photos posted by town officials show that most of the intricate patterns and colorful details of it have remained intact for centuries.
Officials said the floor was buried under a grape garden in the mountainous area.
They wrote that after decades of failed efforts, archaeologists have discovered part of the floor and foundation of the Roman villa located in the north of the capital, which was found by scholars more than a century ago.
They shared that the group's goal is to "determine the expansion and exact location of this ancient structure".
Local officials said the town would work to ensure the public can admire the floor of the ancient house, but they also predicted that: "The results will not be achieved immediately and will require many essential resources".
