Iran demands US pay $1,000 billion in compensation

Iran is demanding $1 trillion in compensation from the United States for decades of economic sanctions imposed after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. These measures have hampered the country's development for 25 years, according to Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

Shamkhani also accused the US of creating terrorist groups such as IS and Al-Qaeda to destabilize the region and protect its ally Israel. The compensation request comes after an Iranian court ruled in 2023 that the US should pay nearly $50 billion for the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.

Mr. Adani and executives of Adani Green Energy are accused of using false information to raise more than $3 billion. A US judge has issued arrest warrants for Adani and his co-defendants, which are expected to be sent to international law enforcement agencies.

Geologists used advanced 3D exploration technology to unearth more than 40 gold veins here. The discovery comes as gold prices hit record highs amid global uncertainty. China is currently the world's largest gold producer, accounting for 10% of global output by 2023.
