This is part of a new program to replace EB-5 investment visas, opening up residence opportunities in the US for global super-rich.
According to US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, the Trump administration expects to sell 1 million cards, equivalent to $5,000 billion - a figure that could significantly reduce the national debt that is reaching the 36.2 trillion USD mark.
"There are 37 million people in the world who can afford to buy these cards... The president believes we can sell at least 1 million cards," Minister Lutnick said on the "All-In" podcast.
Previously, Mr. Lutnick said that 250,000 people had expressed interest in buying yellow cards.
The Financial Express quoted Minister Lutnick as saying that the idea of this yellow card came from a discussion between President Donald Trump and investor billionaire John Paulson.
When President Trump proposed the idea, Minister Lutnick was the one to realize it. "The president called me, then we discussed the yellow card idea. My job is to find a way to do it," Lutnick said.
A noteworthy point is that the program will use special software developed by Elon Musk's team to conduct background checks more quickly and accurately than any previous government system.
Minister Lutnick confirmed: "It only takes 1 second to check the information, faster than any system the government has ever had."
Although the yellow card program allows cardholders to apply for US citizenship, Minister Lutnick predicted that many people would give up this right to avoid US global tax regulations.
The yellow card, also known as the "Trump card" in the financial world, is considered an upgraded version of the current EB-5 investor visa program.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Department (USCIS) said that the EB-5 investor visa program managed by USCIS was established by Congress in 1990 to "stimulate the US economy through job creation and foreign investment".
Mr Lutnick criticized "the EB-5 program is full of unreasonable, fabricated and fraudulent things, and that is a way to get a green card at a low price".
If the yellow card program is successful, this will not only be a huge source of revenue to help reduce US public debt but also a bold move by President Trump to attract global super-rich people to settle in the US.
