A Ukrainian drone attacked a multi-storey apartment building in the town of Krasnogorsk, west of Moscow, causing a fire and injuring two people, according to Moscow region governor Andreivorobyov.
The fire started on the 17th floor of the building. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. vorobyov also said that two other drones were shot down in the western part of Moscow.
Moscow Mayor Sergei sobyanin also confirmed that the Russian air defense system had blocked two Ukrainian UAVs heading towards the city overnight. Experts are testing debris from at least one aircraft that crashed after midnight.
Another device aimed at the capital was also pushed back early in the evening of June 23, according to the Mayor. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said air defense units had destroyed a total of nine UAVs in just 90 minutes before midnight, including aircraft appearing over the border areas of Kursk and Bryansk.
Recent UAV attacks by Ukraine have targeted a variety of targets, including areas far from the Ukrainian border. One of the notable strikes this month, called the " spider web Campaign", focused on long-range military aircraft at many Russian bases.
In response, Russia has also increased large-scale UAV attacks on Ukrainian cities. On the night of June 22, Russian UAVs and missiles overflowed Kiev and neighboring areas, killing 10 people.
