Does Wenger miss Sanchez?
In the evening match of August 19 against Stoke City away, Arsenal did not have the service of Alexis Sanchez because this striker was still injured. The "Gunners" attack was led by Lacazette but the results were not as expected.
Let's frankly talk about Lacazette being denied a controversial goal, Arsenal's defeat to Stoke comes from their age-old reason without Sanchez, which is that they have shot too many but not much effectively.
All of Arsenal's strikers last night have set up 14 shots against Stoke's goal and they have added 9 corners. However, in return, only once celebrating a goal, the away team players could not get it. Effectiveness is something that Lacazette's £45 million legs did not bring or that the person who came on was Giroud, who was also helpless.
Last season, in the Premier League alone, Sanchez scored 24 goals for Arsenal, which was enough to show his importance to the Gunners. But now that Sanchez has not been able to come on, his club have lost a match they should have won to create a favorable start to the season.
In addition to the professional problems without Sanchez, "Profesor" Wenger seems to be putting himself in a difficult position in " coping" with his student. Sanchez wanted to leave, when he could not convince his student to stay, the French coach played a "lax" card for him so that by the summer of 2018, when Sanchez's contract expired, he would leave as a free transfer and at that time, a penalty or compensation would both say no to Sanchez.
Wenger should probably learn from the way Sir Alex did with Ronaldo in 2009. After winning the 2008 Golden Ball and wanting to immediately move to Real Madrid, Sir Alex immediately extended Ronaldo's contract and made a firm promise: "Put in another year and then go to Real Madrid". As a result, M.U still won the Premier League in 2009 enough to satisfy CR7, then he bought Sir Alex to Real for a record fee with signings and contract compensation. So, everyone was happy.
So why did he fail to please a veteran like Wenger who was only worthy of his age?
Let's go, Wenger!
If Wenger had willing to spend all the £145 million allocated this summer, things could have been different, at least his relationship with Alexis Sanchez. With the club having more big stars, it is understandable that this striker has regained his inspiration.
In addition to Sanchez-related problems, Wenger should also look straight at the current squad. Compared to M.U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man City, Arsenal's player quality is only average.
Of the 11 names starting in last night's match, Arsenal only have 2 names in the "old" line, Ozil and Lacazette. But on a day when Ozil "disappeared", Lacazette floated around the image of "ods", Arsenal immediately lost to an average team in the Premier League.
Another person who was once greatly expected was Xhaka, who was more disappointed as he played. The Swiss midfielder only reminds people of free cards instead of goals and assists. Up front, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Welbeck have never been considered quality players and have stopped at the "potential" level.
With such a squad in the context of increasingly fierce tournaments and arch-rivals getting stronger, Arsenal can only hope to make a living. Otherwise, Wenger's final year at the Emirates will be the same sad as the past 10 years. And then, all the legacy he left behind will be quickly forgotten.
Don't waste money anymore, Wenger!
