The 15th National Assembly passed Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units. Accordingly, Bac Kan province will merge with Thai Nguyen province from July 1.
Before that historic moment, Secretary of the Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee Hoang Duy Chinh wrote a letter to the ethnic minorities in the province to review the glorious and proud journey of the Party Committee and People of Bac Kan province before officially merging with the new Thai Nguyen province to form the new Thai Nguyen province, opening a new development journey with higher expectations and greater aspirations.
According to the Secretary of the Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee, in 28 years of building and growing, the Party Committee and People of Bac Kan province have affirmed their mettle, high determination, overcome difficulties, and strive to achieve proud achievements in all aspects.
"The policy of merging provincial administrative units, streamlining the political system, and building two-level local governments is a strategic and historic step of our country. Reuniting provinces is not the end, gathering administrative units in a mechanical way, but the beginning of a new development period for the regions, with the expectation of forming larger economic - political - cultural centers, with higher competitiveness, better meeting the needs of sustainable development in the new period", the letter reads: After July 1, 2025, the name of Bac Kan province will no longer be on the administrative map, but in the minds of each citizen, the familiar image of roads, corners, villages, agencies, offices, along with the faces of comrades, colleagues, and friends will last forever. When values, traditions and good aspirations are always preserved, today's integration is an opportunity to spread, resonate, enrich identity, contributing to building the new Thai Nguyen province to develop more comprehensively and strongly.
"The name of Bac Kan province can be traced back to history, but the development journey and contributions of people born and raised in this beloved land or who have been attached to this place have never stopped. On the new journey, we will continue to accompany, carrying the spirit of solidarity, intelligence and courage to create new miracles. A new journey awaits. Let's walk with faith, pride and high responsibility because our homeland is now the country, a place where we always wish to contribute and sacrifice to build an increasingly stronger and richer country", Mr. Hoang Duy Chinh wrote in the letter.
