Main attacker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is having a brilliant season in Japan when playing for Gunma Green Wings women's volleyball club. After two matches against Queenseis Kariya last weekend, the Vietnamese striker has surpassed the 300-point mark after 24 matches.
Thanh Thuy has scored a total of 319 points, ranking 14th in the list of athletes scoring the most points and 11th if only counting foreign players. Female team takes on tasks
According to the latest professional preparation report sent to the leaders of the Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Training, volleyball has identified the key task in the coming period as aiming for ASIAD 20, with the Vietnamese women's (indoor) volleyball team playing a core role. This is considered an important goal in the development roadmap and enhancing the position of Vietnamese volleyball in regional and continental arenas.
Based on this orientation, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's (indoor) volleyball team will develop a detailed professional plan, which includes specific achievement goals at ASIAD 20. These contents will be reported to the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) for consideration and completion before being officially submitted to the leaders of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports in the near future.

Before ASIAD 20, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is having a favorable foundation when it achieved a historic milestone at ASIAD 19 held in 2023 in China. At this congress, the team played impressively and finished in 4th place, thereby establishing the best achievement that a Vietnamese national volleyball team has ever achieved in the history of participating in the Asian Games.
At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is led by head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet. Currently, Mr. Kiet is still trusted by VFV to be assigned this responsibility.
