In the match at My Dinh Stadium, the Thai team took the lead twice. However, the Vietnamese team both scored to close the match with a 2-2 draw. This result helped coach Kim Sang-sik's team win the overall victory 4-2 after two legs, thereby successfully defending the ASEAN Cup championship.
