Recently, the media reported that coach Pep Guardiola and his wife Cristina Serra had separated after more than 30 years together. The couple divorced peacefully and still maintain a good relationship. To this day, the 57-year-old coach still wears his wedding ring.
It is known that the Man City captain lives in Manchester with his two older children. Due to his personal work, he and his wife live apart. In 2019, Cristina and her youngest daughter returned to their hometown of Barcelona to run a fashion company. It is reported that this was also the time when the couple began to separate.
An unnamed friend of Guardiola's told MailSport: "He is a workaholic and not being involved in the family fashion business may have affected their relationship."
Cristina's family owned a fashion store called Serra Claret in Barcelona, and it was here that she met her husband when he was 18. Guardiola was then a player for Barcelona and was invited to model for designer Antonio Miro in the Serra family store.
Serra Claret is also the company that supplies many of the brands that Pep often wears when coaching. He once shared that his wife is the one who chooses his clothes when he goes to work.
Dating since their teens, the couple have three children: Maria (born in 2001), Marius (2003) and Valentina (2008). But it was not until 2014 that the two got married after holding a simple, private ceremony in Spain.
The couple had been in a long-distance relationship since 1994, due to Pep's frequent travel for the team. They kept their relationship a secret and lived together in a house in an upscale area of Barcelona. Later, when Pep retired from playing and pursued a coaching career, the two often lived apart.
Due to her fashion business, Cristina had to travel between England and other countries for three years, when Pep accepted to lead Man City from 2016.
However, the couple have been together on many important occasions. Cristina and her children have also been seen many times at the Etihad Stadium cheering on Pep. On the rare occasions Guardiola and Serra have spoken publicly about their relationship, they have both been full of praise for each other.
There were rumours that manager Pep Guardiola was considering ending his career at Man City in the summer of 2025 after nearly a decade of service. But at the end of 2024, he agreed a two-year extension with the club (until 2027).
This decision was not accepted by Cristina, and was considered the "last straw" that led to the end of their 30-year relationship.
