The international cycling race “One track - two countries” Lao Cai, Vietnam - Hong Ha, China took place over two days (November 30 - December 1) in Lao Cai city and Hong Ha district. The tournament had the participation of 537 athletes with 686 races in various events.
This is a large-scale annual international competition, jointly organized by Lao Cai province and Hong Ha district since 2017.
In his opening speech, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Lao Cai province Dinh Minh Ha emphasized that the race attracted the participation of cyclists from both countries, thereby enriching and deepening the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to strengthening the friendly cooperation relationship "mountains connecting mountains, rivers connecting rivers" between Lao Cai province and Hong Ha district in particular, and Vietnam and China in general.
Mr. Dinh Hang - Deputy Secretary of the Education and Sports Committee of Hong Ha district affirmed that cycling is a green sport that is friendly to nature. The race has been successfully held 4 times thanks to the professionalism and beautiful scenery of the race track, leaving many good impressions on the athletes.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the Hong Ha District Education and Sports Committee, the tournament is an opportunity for the sports sectors of both sides to exchange and foster friendship between the two countries. This year, the Chinese side has adjusted the competition schedule, creating excitement for athletes and raising the level of the race. Thereby, promoting cooperation and integration between the two localities and the two countries not only in the field of sports but also in other fields.
Immediately after that, the athletes entered the cross-country racing event taking place entirely on Vietnamese territory, with a distance of 22 km.
At the Lao Cai International Cycling Tournament “One track - two countries”, athletes will compete in 2 events and be divided into age groups: Individual MountainBike (men and women) distance of 22 km with young men aged 16-35, middle-aged men aged 36-49, elderly men aged 50-65, young women aged 16-39, middle-aged women aged 40-65.
RoadBike content: individual (male, female); friendship team (male, female) distance of 80 km with contents of young men 16 - 35 years old, middle-aged men 36-45 years old, elderly men 46-65 years old, young women 16-39 years old, middle-aged women 40-65 years old.
