On November 30, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City organized the 2024 Can Tho City Composite Tire Racing Championship. This is one of the activities to celebrate the Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta Tourism - Trade Week in Can Tho City in 2024.
The tournament had the participation of more than 100 team leaders, coaches, and athletes from 16 teams from 6 provinces and cities (Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Hau Giang, Can Tho, Long An, Ho Chi Minh City), along with Can Tho College of Economics and Technology and Can Tho University.
Athletes compete in 2 categories: Genesis GS210 gasoline engine, 7HP, Composite hull length 5.9m, AB stainless steel propeller; competition distance 500m and Genesis GS420 gasoline engine, 15HP, Composite hull length 5.9m, AB stainless steel propeller.
Sharing with reporters before entering the competition, Mr. Phu Hoa (Cai Rang District, Can Tho City) said that he was very excited but also nervous. The playground aims to honor the boat - closely associated with the lives of people in the West, so Mr. Hoa's team will try their best to compete.
Nguyen Van Nhieu (Giong Rieng district, Kien Giang province) said: "The track is very beautiful, the opponents are strong, I feel excited after finishing the race. While waiting for the results from the judges to continue to the next round, my teammates and I showed our team spirit to cheer for the athletes from other provinces."
It is known that the prize structure this year is more than 150 million VND (including gifts and cash). In which, the first prize is up to 40 million VND, along with gifts including a 7HP Genesis engine and an AB stainless steel propeller. The organizing committee will award medals to the athletes participating in the tournament (first, second, third), and bonuses and gifts to the athletes who achieve results in the competition events.
The 2024 Can Tho City Open Composite Tire Racing Championship is a prestigious major race that has been held continuously since 2015.
