Comment on the results of Vietnam vs Thailand women's volleyball

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face Thailand in the championship match of stage 1 of SEA V.League 2024.

According to the match schedule, the Vietnamese and Thai women's volleyball teams will meet in the final match of stage 1 of SEA V.League 2024, taking place at 7:00 p.m. on August 4.

This is the decisive match for the championship, because both teams have the same 6 points after the first 2 matches.

Previously, the Thai women's volleyball team defeated Indonesia and the Philippines with the same score of 3-0. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team surpassed the Philippines 3-1 and defeated Indonesia 3-0.

Currently, Thailand is temporarily leading the rankings and Vietnam is ranked 2nd, because the Golden Temple team is better in terms of secondary difference (total number of sets won - lost). However, this will no longer be important when the two teams will determine the winner and loser in the final round.

In terms of force and expertise, the away team is considered better than Vietnam. Coach Nataphon Srisamutnak's team has approached the Olympic arena and has regularly participated in major international tournaments in recent times.

Since the beginning of the year, Thailand has continuously competed and rubbed shoulders with many of the world's top teams such as Japan and Brazil, participating in prestigious tournaments such as the Nations League. Since then, they have improved their level significantly and advanced one level higher than the general level in Southeast Asia.

Thailand's squad is high class and quite uniform. They can alternate positions but still ensure strength on the field. Some stars competing with high performance include Nuekjang Thatdao, Chatchu-on, Sasipapron, Thanacha, Pornpun...

On the other side, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also had many successes in 2024, typically winning the second consecutive championship at the AVC Challenge Cup and winning third place at the FIVB Challenger Cup for the first time.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students showed significant progress when competing in many tournaments. But in general, the Vietnamese women's team still cannot play fair with Thailand.

In the past 2 matches, the home team also revealed some weaknesses such as ineffective hitting the ball behind the 3m line, or not having a good defense plan after the opponent's blocking phase.

At the SEA Games arena, from 2001 until now, the two teams have met 11 times in the finals and the Thai women's team won all the way to win the gold medal.

Assessing the opponent, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "Thailand came to this year's SEA V.League with good preparation. After competing in international tournaments, their athletes have time to practice." focus on physical strength, expertise and quick integration.

Thailand's strength through the first two matches shows a very high level. In the past 6 rounds, there was never a time when they were ahead by their opponents, instead they created a breakthrough very early.

For Vietnam, although we have a strong squad, the athletes are not in their best form. Hopefully the whole team will be better prepared mentally and physically.

SEA V.League only has 3 matches so the physical issue is not a concern, the important thing is to raise the spirit and concentrate highly. Looking at Thailand, their passing is so smooth, they can even find each other even with their eyes closed. Therefore, if we are not prepared, especially in defense, it will be difficult to have a good match against Thailand."
