The English Football Association (FA) has just invited Rooney to organize a match of gratitude at Wembley Stadium after what this striker has contributed to the country's football.
However, contrary to expectations, Rooney flatly rejected this kindness from the FA. It is known that the FA plans to organize 2 friendly matches between England and Brazil and Germany, thereby having the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the most wonderful captains of the "Three Lions".
In March, the FA rejected the German Football Federation's offer when the DFB expressed its desire to host the Germany - England match to pay tribute to striker Lukas Podolski after he retired.
Rooney announced his retirement from international football in August 2017 and is currently still on the Everton squad. In his time in the English DTQG shirt, Rooney has scored 59 goals in 119 appearances.
Current England coach Gareth Southgate expressed regret over Rooney's decision to part ways with the "Three Lions". The English coach has repeatedly tried to keep Rooney but failed. Southagate believes the decision not to accept the FA's request from R10 was partly due to Everton's recent poor form.
Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League table after nine games. Coach Ronald Koeman has also just said goodbye to The Toffees after a long time together. The reason Everton's achievement is unacceptable is because last summer, they poured into the transfer market up to 159 million Euros.
