Jannik Sinner defeated his compatriot Andrea Pellegrino with a score of 2-0 to win the right to enter the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters.

The world No. 1 player quickly controlled the game right from the first set. Sinner effectively took advantage of the break opportunities to continuously put pressure on Pellegrino, before closing the set with a 6-2-win.

Stepping into set 2, Pellegrino played more effortfully and tried to maintain the pursuit. However, stability in serves and accurate ball control helped Sinner make a difference in the decisive stage. The Italian player broke in game 7 before ending the match after 1 hour and 30 minutes of play.

This victory helps Jannik Sinner equal the record of 31 consecutive wins at Masters 1000 tournaments set by Novak Djokovic earlier. At the same time, the 24-year-old player also extended his 26-match winning streak and made his 23rd appearance in the quarterfinals of Masters 1000 in his career.

After the match, Sinner shared: "Starting the match is not easy at all. I am satisfied with how I handle difficult times. Matches in the next rounds are always more complicated and I am happy to continue participating in important rounds. The break before the quarter-finals will be very necessary to recover and prepare better.

In the quarterfinals, Sinner is likely to face Andrey Rublev. This is considered an opportunity for the Italian player to surpass the milestone that Djokovic once set in the Masters 1000 system.

In another development of the 4th round, Vietnamese-born player Learner Tien unexpectedly lost to Rafael Jodar after two sets, despite being rated higher than before the match.
