Notable Statistics
Ruben Amorim has seen the best and worst of Man United in the past week, beating Man City in the derby but then losing 4-3 to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
Amad Diallo has been in excellent form under Amorim, scoring the winner against Man City and also netting against Tottenham. The Ivorian midfielder has scored or assisted in his last five Premier League appearances (one goal, five assists).
Midfielder Fernandes has also started to find form after scoring four goals and assisting three times in his last seven league appearances. He has only two assists and failed to score in his first nine Premier League games of the season.
Man United are currently 13th in the table with 22 points. If they fail to beat Bournemouth, the Red Devils will drop into the bottom half of the table at Christmas for the first time since the 1989-1990 season (12th).
Despite some positive results, Amorim still has work to do. Man United have conceded more goals from set-pieces than any other Premier League side this season (42% - 8/19), while four of the seven goals conceded under Amorim have come from such situations.
Bournemouth have been in good form away from home recently, winning their last two Premier League away games against Ipswich Town and Wolves. That is their best run since a four-game winning streak in December 2023, which included a win over Man United at Old Trafford.
Last time out, Enes Unai scored from the bench to help Bournemouth draw 1-1 with West Ham. Since the start of the season, Andoni Iraola's side have scored eight of their 17 goals from substitutes - the highest ratio of any of the 20 Premier League teams.
Bournemouth have a formidable attacking ability, having made 270 shots since the start of the tournament, a number only lower than Man City (280). In the previous round, they launched 29 shots towards West Ham.
In terms of squad, the away team is likely to be without Marcos Senesi, Marcus Tavernier, Julian Araujo, Luis Sinisterra and Alex Scott due to injury.
For Man United, Marcus Rashford is still uncertain to play due to internal conflicts. Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw are not playing due to injuries. Matthijs de Ligt is also uncertain to play for the same reason.
Head to head record Man United vs Bournemouth
Last season, United failed to win in both of their Premier League meetings with Bournemouth, losing 0-3 at Old Trafford in December last year.
Dominic Solanke, now at Spurs, Philip Billing and Senesi all scored in the win over Bournemouth last season, a result that somewhat bucked the usual trend.
Indeed, Bournemouth have lost five of their last seven away games at Old Trafford (W1 D1), with their only win coming in the 2023-24 season.
The match between Man United and Bournemouth takes place at 9:00 p.m. on December 22.
